I was looking forward to taking more classes for my career, so I’m happy to be back at the School of Visual Arts to learn new skills and explore possibilities. I will be taking courses in CG modeling and producing for animation.
Working in After Effects the past couple of years has been fun and rewarding, and I want to expand my skill set into more areas of computer animation. To that end, I’m taking a course to learn Maya and the basics of CG modeling, shading, and animation. I just completed my first class, and I’m picking up the program quickly. I’ve already started making my own models at home thanks to Autodesk’s generous education program. My background in After Effects and other Adobe Creative Suite programs is helping a lot, and having an instructor is way better than going it alone.
In addition to Maya, I am also taking a course focused on producing for animation. I love learning and working with various animation programs, but my ultimate goal is to work as a producer in the field. To be effective, I know that I need to be fluent in these programs and, more importantly, their workflow. These courses are going to be a big step toward that goal.
